We’re going to take a different route here and talk about something that’s garnered quite a bit of attention. Not the good, curious kind of attention. It’s that kind of attention where someone seems intrigued, then once the stance is explained, you get that sort of side glance eye glare, like that person doesn’t know what the hell you’re talking about, and no longer wants anything to do with you. No, I’m not talking about the conspiracy theory surrounding the moon landing or chem trails. I’m talking about something even crazier: the ancient alien theory.

Life among the stars
To summarize the theory, now a 9 year old television series on the history channel (of all channels), Ancient Aliens focuses on the idea that since the dawn of our creation, aliens have periodically visited us in order to help us develop as a species. Through their technology they helped create the pyramids, they helped Moses part the Red Sea, and even inspired the minds of Da Vinci and Einstein (those last two are a bit of a stretch for me).
It’s a fascinating premise, especially when it goes into the deeper historical details. How ancient cultures all over the world share similar art and structures depicting little men with helmets or riding some sort of otherworldly craft. Take the Nasca lines for example. There are alternative, more practical explanations for their existence. But is it a coincidence that some of the shapes are human, or even alien like?

Higher Power?
How about renaissance type pieces of art that show strange objects flying over hillside communities? Or how every creation story in a faith-based text starts the same: some individual is visited by some being from the sky, and throughout their existential journey they’re aided by that force from beyond human scope.

I can feel the eye rolls already.
Some of it sounds like a bunch of malarkey, I know. I think the whole thing with Einstein and Da Vinci, two of mankind greatest minds, being inspired by alien technology severely discredits the ingenuity and growth of the human mind.
But all that other stuff? The pyramids, the art of ancient societies, the religious significance. I can’t help but consider this idea to be somewhat plausible. Think about it, with all of the cultures of the world and their many myths and creation stories, all the religions of the world, what are the odds that they were just…made up? They had to have come from somewhere, right?
So I guess what I’m trying to say is, try to have a bit of an open mind. It sounds crazy, and it may be just a case of sensationalism getting the better of us. But the only way for us to figure that out is to trust our own judgment. After all, when it comes to conspiracy theories, the only ones we have to trust are ourselves.
